Ciclovia Belfast is back for 2017 – Date for the diary

We are delighted to announce that we have a confirmed date for Ciclovia Belfast 2017.

This year Ciclovia Belfast will take place on Sunday 24th September 2017.  The roads will be closed from 0930 – 12:30pm so that cyclists, of all ages and abilities, can enjoy a cycle freeway in the heart of Belfast City. As in previous years at the event, we will have an official cycle of the route, which will start at 10am, from the McClay Library entrance to Botanic Gardens.  We are delighted that the Lord Mayor of Belfast will join us for this cycle down to City Hall. It would be great to have as many cyclists as possible join us.  The route will be the same as before, including the two hubs at Botanic Gardens and Belfast City Hall; Botanic Avenue, Shaftesbury Square, Bedford Street, Donegall Square West onto the front of the City Hall. There will once again be a range of different activities taking place along the route as well as at the City Hall and Botanic Gardens hubs.

We had fantastic support last year and it was great to see cyclists of all ages and abilities take to the cycle freeway route.  We hope to see the support continue this year.  Our aim for 2017 is to increase participation and we hope that we can call upon our Ciclovia supporters can help us achieve this.

As we move towards the big day we will keep you informed of activities along the route and anything else you need to know about the event. One notable date is our official launch photocall on Monday 7th August at 2pm.  This will take place in the ground of Belfast City Hall with the Lord Mayor in attendance.  All cyclists welcome.  Just bring yourself, your bike and a smile!

So, make sure that Sunday 24th September is marked in your diary, tell your friends, tag them into our facebook and twitter posts and don’t forget to share our blog posts.  Let’s make this the biggest and best Ciclovia Belfast yet!
